1. Summary
Mimfold lets you save memes, images, videos, and tweet cards to a personal library tied to your account, and quickly share them with friends. We use your data only to operate the app: to authenticate you, sync your library across your devices, power search and collections, run sharing flows, and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not run third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
2. Data we collect
The table below summarizes the data Mimfold collects, why we collect it, and whether it is linked to your identity. This mirrors the App Store privacy disclosures.
| Data type | Purpose | Linked to you |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Account creation and sign-in (Google or Apple) | Yes |
| User ID | Identifying your account on Firebase | Yes |
| User content (images, videos, tweet cards, captions, tags, collections) | Storing the library you build inside Mimfold | Yes |
| Source metadata (tweet URL, tweet text, author handle, author avatar, post date, media source URL) | Showing the original context of items you save from X/Twitter | Yes |
| Aggregate usage counters (number of items imported from X/Twitter, number of items imported from your photo library, number of items shared to WhatsApp or other messaging apps) | Operating quotas, showing your activity stats inside your profile, and improving the product | Yes |
Your account record is created the first time you sign in with Google or Apple. We do not collect your password; sign-in is handled by Google and Apple, and Mimfold only receives the identifier and email address those providers return. We do not request or store your name.
3. Data we do not collect
- Contacts. Mimfold can read your device contacts when you tap the "Send to a contact" button so that you can choose someone to share a meme with through WhatsApp or another messaging app. Contacts stay on your device. Mimfold does not upload, copy, or store your contacts on our servers.
- Photo library. Photos and videos you pick from your library are processed locally and only uploaded to Firebase Storage when you explicitly add them to your Mimfold library.
- Location. Mimfold does not request or collect your location.
- Analytics, advertising identifiers, tracking. Mimfold does not integrate Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, the IDFA, or any third-party advertising or tracking SDK.
- Diagnostic data. We do not collect crash logs or performance traces.
4. How we use data
We use the data described above to:
- create and maintain your account;
- store the library you build inside Mimfold and sync it across your devices;
- let you search, filter, and organize your saved items;
- render the source context of an item you saved from X/Twitter;
- send the right item to the messaging app you chose when sharing;
- fix bugs, prevent abuse, and protect the service;
- respond to your support requests.
4a. Browser extension
Mimfold also offers an optional Chrome/Edge browser extension,
Mimfold Saver, that lets you forward an
X/Twitter post to your Mimfold library with one click. The
extension runs only on x.com,
twitter.com, and mobile.twitter.com;
it has no analytics and no advertising; it does not download
media itself; and it never asks for your password. Pairing is
done with an 8-character code generated inside the mobile app.
For the full disclosure of what data the extension reads, what
it sends, what it does not collect, and the Chrome Web Store
single-purpose declaration, see the
Mimfold Saver extension
privacy policy.
5. Third-party services
Mimfold relies on the following third-party services to operate. These providers process limited data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — handles sign-in with Google and Apple, stores account identifiers.
- Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) — stores library metadata such as collection names, tags, and saved tweet cards.
- Firebase Storage (Google LLC) — stores the media files you save to your library.
- Cloud Functions for Firebase (Google LLC) — runs the server-side flow that downloads media you save from X/Twitter and writes it to your library.
- Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) — provides the Apple ID sign-in option.
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — provides the Google account sign-in option.
We do not currently run AI generation features in the production app. Future versions may offer optional AI-assisted tagging and description for items you save; if and when those features ship, this policy will be updated to disclose the providers involved (such as Google Gemini or OpenRouter) and the data sent to them.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We share data only with the service providers listed above, only as needed to run Mimfold. We may also disclose data when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Mimfold, our users, or others.
7. Data retention and account deletion
We keep your library and account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual items from inside the app at any time, and you can delete your entire account directly from the app:
- Open Mimfold and go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion request.
- Your account, library metadata, and stored media are removed from our systems.
You can also email mimfold@gmail.com from the address tied to your account to request deletion. Residual copies in encrypted backups and operational logs are removed in line with our normal retention cycle, generally within 30 days.
8. Security
We protect your data with Firebase security rules, account-scoped access controls, and reasonable technical and organizational measures. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique credential for the Google or Apple account you use to sign in.
9. Children
Mimfold is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared data with Mimfold, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (your library is fully visible and editable), or by emailing mimfold@gmail.com. We do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA.
11. International transfers
Mimfold is operated from Türkiye and uses Firebase, which may store and process data on servers in the United States and other regions. By using Mimfold you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you live in.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Mimfold after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
For privacy questions or to exercise any of the rights above, email mimfold@gmail.com.
